Federal Opposition undemocratic: CPSU

The Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU) has called the Federal Opposition 'undemocratic' and vowed to keep lobbying for changes to workplace laws.

The Federal Government's new legislation to replace WorkChoices is now unlikely to be passed until the end of April after the Opposition used its Senate majority to set-up an inquiry.

Stephen Jones from the CPSU says they will keep up the pressure on Federal MPs until the the laws are changed.

"We have to do everything we can, we were elected to do it, we have a mandate to do it," he said.

"As union officials we have to do everything we can to ensure that we get a fair set of industrial laws for our members and their families, that's our job.

"We will be talking to backbenchers from all parties and we'll be making the views known of CPSU members in Senate committees and everywhere we can."
